Fireworks over the Mississippi Gulf Coast during an Independence Day celebration

BILOXI, MS — Communities across Coastal Mississippi are planning fireworks, patriotic celebrations, and family-friendly events throughout Independence Day weekend as the nation marks its 250th birthday on July 4, 2026.

Tourism officials are also pitching the Mississippi Gulf Coast as an affordable summer getaway, highlighting beaches, seafood, walkable downtowns, and lodging options ranging from boutique hotels to beachfront resorts.

Coastal Mississippi promotes shoreline vacations and holiday travel

The Mississippi Gulf Coast stretches across 62 miles of shoreline, with more than 26 miles of sand-white beaches in Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson counties. Coastal Mississippi Tourism says the region offers visitors a chance to pair a holiday trip with a beach escape.

Judy Young, CEO of Coastal Mississippi Tourism, said milestone moments like America’s 250th birthday become part of family memories and that the coast offers a strong setting for those celebrations.

Biloxi, Gulfport and nearby cities schedule major fireworks shows

Biloxi will host The Boom Boom Committee Fireworks Show on July 4, launched from a barge near Deer Island and billed as one of the Gulf Coast’s biggest Independence Day traditions. The display will be set to patriotic music and broadcast live on BOB 105.9.

Other fireworks events include Ignite the Night in Gulfport on July 4, Freedom Over Ocean Springs on July 3 at Front Beach, the Pascagoula fireworks show on July 4, and Diamondhead’s celebration on July 3. Fireworks in Paradise at Margaritaville Resort Biloxi will also give visitors waterfront views.

Family events add parades, music and baseball to the holiday weekend

Several communities are pairing fireworks with daytime activities. Long Beach will kick off its 4th of July Jubilee on June 27 with a parade, live music, and a beachfront fireworks display. Red, White, & Biloxi on the Biloxi Town Green will include entertainment, family activities, and a tribute to the city’s history.

Biloxi Shuckers fans can also take in two patriotic games at Keesler Federal Park on July 3 and 4 against the Chattanooga Lookouts, with America 250 commemorative coin giveaways and postgame fireworks planned as part of the Independence Day Extravaganza.

Tourism officials urge visitors to build an itinerary around the celebrations

Coastal Mississippi says it can help visitors plan a holiday itinerary built around local attractions, events, and waterfront views. The organization is also directing travelers to its PlayCoastalMS social accounts for trip ideas and updates.

With events spread across the shoreline, the region is positioning itself as a place where visitors can celebrate the holiday weekend and spend time on the beach in the same trip.
