Legend has it is that this is the place that Goddess Parvati killed a demon named Kamasura who was harassing people from this region. The goddess eventually killed the demon and people started worshipping the deity since that day onwards. The temple is located around 130kms from Mangalore and is well connected by road.

One of the famous temples in Karnataka is Manjunatha Temple in the holy town of Dharmasthala. It is located beside the Nethravathi River. Located near to the banks of the Arabian Sea, Murudeshwar is a small town and is home to one of the famous temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Murudeshwar temple can be recognised from a distance where a huge idol of Lord Shiva is seen overlooking the Arabian Sea. The idol is of 20 storeys high and a tourist can climb where he has some of the best views of the sea.

Murudeshwar is well connected via road network from Mangalore and also you can take local, state transport bus service to reach here.

4. Kukke Subramanya Temple, Kukke

Kukke Subramanya Temple is a temple dedicated to Karthikeya, who is a serpent lord. Worshippers come here to ward off any evil caused by serpents here and this is the place where many people come to offer their prayers, hence this temple would have many tourists on any given day. Kukke Subramanya Temple is well connected by roadways and it has many bus services from different parts of the state.

5. Virupaksha Temple, Hampi

Located in UNESCO World Heritage Site of Karnataka, Hampi the Virupaksha Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest, beautiful and grandest temple. It is the temple that has been worshipped for centuries and was the main temple for the Vijayanagara Empire.

The temple has many intricate art and details which one would be amazed by the carvings. One needs to visit this temple and explore the world heritage centre of Hampi.
