Silver Falls State Park Camping Reviews

As an avid camper and lover of the great outdoors, I had always heard amazing things about Silver Falls State Park in Oregon. So, when the opportunity arose for me to take a camping trip there, I jumped at the chance.

About Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of Oregon, located near Silverton, about 20 miles (32 km) east-southeast of Salem. It is the largest state park in Oregon with an area of more than 9,000 acres (36 km2), and it includes more than 24 miles (39 km) of walking trails, 14 miles (23 km) of horse trails, and a 4-mile (6.4 km) bike path. Its 8.7-mile (14.0 km) Canyon Trail/Trail of Ten Falls runs along the banks of Silver Creek and by ten waterfalls, from which the park received its name. Four of the ten falls have an amphitheater-like surrounding that allows the trail to pass behind the flow of the falls. The Silver Falls State Park Concession Building Area and the Silver Creek Youth Camp-Silver Falls State Park are separately listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Upon arrival at the park, I was immediately struck by the natural beauty of the surroundings. The lush green forests and cascading waterfalls were breathtaking, and I knew that I was in for a special experience.

The campsite was well-maintained, and the amenities were clean and modern. We set up our tent, and before long, we were exploring the park’s many trails and scenic spots.

One of the highlights of our trip was the Trail of Ten Falls, a spectacular 7.2-mile loop that took us past ten stunning waterfalls. The mist from the falls was refreshing, and the sound of the rushing water was soothing.

We also enjoyed swimming in the park’s swimming hole and visiting the nearby town of Silverton, which had a charming small-town feel and plenty of local shops and eateries.

At night, we sat around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and enjoying the peacefulness of the forest. The stars were incredibly bright, and the air was fresh and clean.

Overall, our experience at Silver Falls State Park was incredible. The natural beauty of the park was awe-inspiring, and the camping facilities were top-notch. The park staff was friendly and helpful, and the other campers were respectful and courteous.

I would highly recommend Silver Falls State Park to anyone looking for a camping adventure in the Pacific Northwest. It is truly a gem of a destination, and I can’t wait to return for another visit.
