Do you like animals? We like animals. And you can see a whole bunch of animals on one of our incredible safaris in Kenya. You can search for the ‘big five’ (that’s elephant, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo, and leopard) but that’s just the beginning. To get you started, we’ve got ten incredible safari animals and where you can see them on tour in the east African wildlife wonderland.
1: Elephant
Belize is one of many sunny destinations opening its arms fully to remote workers. On the adventure side, you can start in Belize City and head out with us to explore Mayan ruins, a baboon sanctuary, handmade tortillas, and ancient caves before catching a ferry to Caye Caulker. After a few days as your local guide, you can set up shop with real swaying palms as your Zoom backdrop.
2: Rhinoceros
Ready for a bigger adventure that sets you up for success as soon as it’s done? Hop on a tour that immerses you in Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala before landing in candy-coloured Antigua. It’s a popular telecommuting hub full of friendly faces, solid internet and cool shared workspaces. Plus, there’s a volcano!
3: Lion
One of the best ways to really get to know a place and its people is to live with them. Even better if that place is full of lemon groves, charming hilltop towns and the tastiest pizza around. On a Local Living experience, you unpack once at an agriturismo and truly get a feel for the pace of coastal Italian life. You can keep up with slacks and emails (if you must) in between tasty farmhouse meals, ferry rides and hikes overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean.
4: Buffalo
Feeling sluggish at work? Try pumping fresh blood to your brain on an active nature-filled adventure. You can reach new heights personally and professionally by letting us introduce you to the massive monoliths, colossal trees, and shining stars of California’s national parks. By the time you reach the tech worker wonderland of San Francisco, you’ll be full of bright ideas and renewed vigor.
5: Leopard
Go wild on an epic adventure that kicks off at the mighty Victoria Falls and leads you on bush walks, wildlife safaris, delta and desert excursions before landing in Cape Town. Getting back into the daily grind after tracking “the big five” and exploring giant sand dunes is made easier by patios with good wifi and nearby beaches to roam. One is even covered in African penguins!
6: Wildebeest
Thanks to a new law allowing foreign remote workers to stay for a year, Costa Rica is a haven for digital nomads. To explore this biodiverse gem, start in San José to head for highlights like Tortuguero, Arenal Volcano, Monteverde and Manuel Antonio Park. With your heart full of monkey and sloth sightings, you can swing by Tamarindo to surf the waves and the web for work.
7: Hippo
Looking to find a better work-life balance? Indonesia is an idyllic setting for wellness seekers and workationers alike. You can start by centering yourself in rejuvenating activities overlooking the ocean, eating healthy organic food, soaking in holy waters, and sitting peacefully at temples. When it’s time to plug back in, you can wow your co-workers with your newfound serenity.
8: Zebra
Whether you do it before or after working from sunny Tenerife, we can’t imagine anything more satisfying than clam shelling your laptop to sail around the Canary Islands. Climb aboard one of our skippered yachts in San Miguel Marina to try your hand at sailing, look for local pilot whales, and snorkel in crystal blue waters.
9: Cheetah
For those driven by gastronomic adventures, Peru’s cuisine is consistently tops with food lovers around the world. You can put in a good day’s work (fuelled by Peruvian coffee) and fill up with ceviche and Pisco Sours at night. When it’s time to work that off, we’ll meet you in Cusco to tackle the rewarding and historic Inca Trail.
10: Giraffe
Iceland’s capital city makes for an ideal base as it’s full of coworking spaces and an easy launching point for excursion breaks. If you can pull yourself out of the Blue Lagoon long enough, there’s all kinds of adventure waiting on the eastern side of the island. Hop a flight to Egilsstaðir to bed down in the fishing village of Borgarfjörður where you’ll set out on daily hikes to puffin colonies, smoking lava fields, and black sand beaches.
