Malta will be open to tourists from Jan 1st 2022

One of the Mediterranean paradise places, Malta will be open to European tourists from Jan 2022 and will gradually lift off all the travel restrictions from Jan 15 onwards.

Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela made an official announcement that from Jan 1, European citizens can travel to Malta as flight travelling from these destinations can reach Malta.

The European countries which the citizens are allowed include Poland (except for Katowice Airport), Italy (except for Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Piemonte), Spain (except for Madrid, Catalonia, Austria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castile and Leon), Cyprus, France (except for Ile de France), Greece, Slovakia, Croatia, Germany, Sicily, Switzerland, Hungary, Sardegna, Luxembourg, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and the Czech Republic.

Once clearance from Health authorities is done, in due course the rest of the countries will be allowed to enter the Island.

People entering Malta should provide a self-declaration where they should mandatorily provide where they have travelled for the past 30 days. In addition to that only thermal screening will be done at the airports and no corona test.

Julia Farrugia Portelli, Malta’s Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protection said that Maltese health authorities have been working hard during the pandemic and have managed to limit the number of coronavirus patients, making sure that Malta is one of the safest destinations to travel. She also said that opening up the airports will help the country’s tourism and economy,

Tourists will enter Malta with previous Visa rules and fees, upon entering the Public transport will be accessible to them. Taxis and Rental vehicles will be sanitized after every use and travellers should wear face mask regularly and it is a compulsory item where social distancing cannot be practised.

Hotels, restaurants, beaches, shops, activities, attractions, and other crowded establishments should follow specific hygiene protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of their visitors.
