In a bid to increase tourism, Uzbekistan will offer $3000 for any tourists who visit the country. One of the popular places in Central Asia, Uzbekistan is sure that anyone would not be affected coronavirus if they visit their country.
With strict lockdown rules, the country has reported a minimum amount of COVID-19 positive patients, with its population of 33 million, around 7500+ people have been contracted with the novel coronavirus.
Under the motto “Safe Travel Guaranteed” campaign, the tourism of Uzbekistan is ready to offer to cover the medical expenses of tourists who visit. However, there are some regulations to avail this amount which includes travellers should explore the country with a local tour guide. Local tour guides, accommodations and tourist sites where one can stay/visit/explore require government certification where they follow standard hygiene and sanitary guidelines.
Speaking about the new rules, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said “We want to reassure tourists they can come to Uzbekistan,” Sophie Ibbotson, Uzbekistan’s tourism ambassador to the UK, was quoted as saying. “The government is so confident that the new safety and hygiene measures being implemented across the tourism sector will protect tourists from COVID-19 that the president is prepared to put money where his mouth is: If you get COVID-19 on holiday in Uzbekistan, we will compensate you.”
So far, Uzbekistan has announced travel from low-risk countries such as China, Israel, Japan and South Korea and citizens from the UK, Europe needs to follow 14 days quarantine when they arrive. However, with new rules, we are yet to get the list of countries from where tourists can enter Uzbekistan.
