Here’s my experience itinerary for a 7-day road trip through Thailand.
Day 1: Bangkok
Start your road trip in the capital city of Bangkok. Explore the vibrant streets and visit some of the city’s famous landmarks, including the Wat Arun Temple, the Grand Palace, and Wat Phra Kaew. Take a stroll through the bustling street markets, and sample some of the delicious street food.
Day 2: Ayutthaya
Drive to the ancient city of Ayutthaya, located about 80 km north of Bangkok. Explore the ruins of the old city, including the impressive Wat Mahathat, and learn about the city’s rich history.
Day 3: Chiang Mai
Drive north to the city of Chiang Mai, the largest city in northern Thailand. Take a tour of the city, including the historic Old City, the impressive Wat Chedi Luang temple, and the vibrant night markets.
Day 4: Chiang Rai
Drive to Chiang Rai, located in northern Thailand, and visit the famous White Temple, a stunningly beautiful temple designed by Thai artist and architect, Chalermchai Kositpipat.
Day 5: Mae Hong Son
Drive to Mae Hong Son, a scenic province located in northern Thailand. Explore the local villages, trek through the mountains, and admire the stunning scenery.
Day 6: Pai
Drive to Pai, a small town located in northern Thailand that is famous for its natural beauty, relaxed atmosphere, and vibrant hippie culture. Explore the town’s many waterfalls, hot springs, and trekking trails, and enjoy the local street food.
Day 7: Chiang Mai
Return to Chiang Mai for your final night in Thailand. Enjoy the city’s vibrant nightlife, including the many street food stalls, bars, and live music venues.
