India travel news – Mathura and Vrindavan to be soon connected via cruise service

Mathura and Vrindavan

Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently stated that Mathura and Vrindavan will be connected with a cruise service, for which waterways on the Yamuna will be developed. This move comes in the wake of promoting religious tourism in the region.

If all goes as per the plan, Mathura and Vrindavan will soon be connected via a cruise service. Referring to this, Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Mathura and Vrindavan will be connected with a cruise service, for which waterways on the Yamuna will be developed.

This move comes in the wake of promoting religious tourism in the region.

The Minister stated that the experience of travelling via cruise will lure tourists visiting Agra to also visit Mathura. While attending an event recently at Shankaracharya Ashram, Govardhan, the Minister talked about this while responding to a Shankaracharya Adhokshajanand Deo Tirth’s question about what the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways was doing to promote tourism in the area.

Sonwal added that Gokul, Mathura, and Vrindavan would be connected by developing waterways on the Yamuna, further adding that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recently met him over this scheme.

The twin cities of Mathura and Vrindavan are famed for being the birthplace of Lord Krishna, and attract a large number of pilgrims and tourists every year. People who are keen to go on a short spiritual sojourn, these twin cities are their go-to place. And since the places of interest are not that far from each other, one gets to explore most of the attractions in just a day.

With this new development, it is expected that these destinations will be able to attract more tourists in the near future.
