An Giang Province in the Mekong Delta near the Cambodian border is busy yet peaceful during the much-awaited flooding season.

The bustling scene at Long Xuyen floating market in the early morning. To see the floating market at its busiest, visitors need to be up early. The market gets very busy from 5 a.m. onwards as hundreds of boats gather to trade agricultural produce including fruits, vegetables, flowers and fish.

A boat trip to explore the floating market costs VND200,000 ($8) for a group of 7-10 people. The shot was part of a photo series captured by Huynh Van Thai, a resident in Mekong Delta’s An Giang who wants to promote the beauty of his hometown to tourists. He is now an administrator of a Facebook travel group called “Wandering An Giang” with nearly 400,000 members.

Located along the upper branches of the Mekong River in Vietnam, An Giang is the first province here to welcome the annual flooding season that brings fish to the paddy fields along with alluvial deposits to fertilize the next crop.
